October's Coffee of the Month:

El Buho (the owl)

• Process: Washed, SHB, EP
• Altitude: 1500 MASL 
• Roast Level: Medium
• Sensory Notes: Honey, Butter, Hickory, Tomato Salsa

Almost 90% of Bolivian specialty coffee comes from the rugged and remote Caranavi province. Farms in Caranavi are often very small and lacking proper equipment which limits their production scale, but not the quality of the coffee itself. El Buho is vibrant to say the least, especially when it’s freshly ground. You’ll notice an almost garden fresh fragrance of hickory and tomato before the water comes into play. Water will calm some of those vegetal tones down a touch and leave behind smooth notes of honeyand butter. Simply put, I’m a big fan of this coffee. Don’t be shy, El Buho is definitely worth a try!
